What about corrosion and scaling (scale build up)?

Our patented technology takes into account the specific needs and actions of each of the three types of pre-cooling systems.

A/C & Refrigeration - The dual action nature of this system made it the most challenging to solve. Primarily, we use a patented water treatment method, a proprietary scale inhibitor formula, and a patented distribution control system. This has been proven effective in all but circumstances with extremely hard water, and in those conditions we implement a secondary mineral reduction process.

Dry Cooling Towers - Due to the physical properties of these pre-cooling systems, as well as the "100% evaporation" techniques employed, only a periodic cleaning is required. However, in any rare case where scale could be a concern, a custom solution would be designed.

Turbines - For systems of this type the solution to scale involves a combination of "100% evaporation", water treatment, and mineral reduction. Specifics are determined by the needs of the particular system.

Do mist systems work in humid climates?

Yes. The concept of evaporative cooling works by achieving evaporation. The more complete the evaporation, the more effective your system will be. In high humidity areas (above 80%), temperatures will be lowered by as much as 10 degrees. Where humidity levels are 40% to 80%, temperatures will be reduced by as much as 20 degrees. Where humidity is below 40%, temperature reductions may be as much as 35 degrees.

Will a misting system cause me to get wet?

No. The only way you will get wet is if you stand within 6 feet of a misting nozzle.

Will cool water absorb more heat than hot water?

The temperature of the water does not have a significant effect on the cooling produced by evaporation. For example:

  • At 90º F (32º C) it takes 9,000 BTUs (2.268 kilocalories) to evaporate 1 gallon of 50° F (10º C) water.
  • At 90º F (32º C) it takes 8,700 BTU (2.192 kilocalories) to evaporate 1 gallon of 90º F water.

As you can see, even when the water is 180% warmer, the result is only a 3% reduction in the amount of heat absorbed.

What is easiest and best way to effectively clean the clogged nozzles?

Most often, nozzles clog when hard water deposits accumulate in them (similar to the white residue left on shower doors). The recommended way to clean nozzles is with a retail product such as CLR (Calcium/Lime/Rust Remover), which is available at most any grocery store. Follow these steps:

  • Scrape a knife across the small hole in the nozzle (do not penetrate the hole).
  • Mix half warm water and half CLR in a small jar, place clogged nozzle in the jar, and shake vigorously for about 20 seconds. Let the nozzle soak for a few seconds and then shake again for 20 seconds.
  • Remove the nozzle from the jar, hold it by the threads, and tap it on a hard surface such as a countertop.
  • Rinse well with fresh water, and the nozzles should be unclogged

NOTE: If you have a jewelry cleaner (ultrasonic bath), use that instead of a jar.
