Simply stated: High pressure, 100% evaporative mist is integrated with the series of automated and manual controls of our HP Smart Pump™ mist system. This achieves optimum results for you:

  • Pre-cooling is activated only when needed by the cooling tower or turbine.
  • Once activated, atomized mist is released into the intake air’s sub-climate and instantly evaporates.
  • Depending on ambient temperature & humidity, this instant evaporation creates a drop in air temperature:
    • up to 40°F for Cooling Towers
    • up to 50°F for Turbines

The SMARTMIST™ Dry Cooling Tower Pre-Cooling and Turbine Pre-Cooling mist systems are comprised of 2 major components:

HP Smart Pump™ & Control System:

The HP Smart Pump™ is made up of a series of high pressure pumps (1000 to 2000 PSI). Each series is custom designed to meet the cooling load requirements of a specific application. This may range from a few GPM (Gallons Per Minutes) to hundreds of GPM, depending on factors such as cooling demand and local climate conditions.

The Controls allow for both fully automatic and manual operation to manage when, where, and how much mist is used. This enables our systems to meet cooling demands that vary as conditions change, without wasting water or other resources.

HP Smart Array™ High Pressure Mist Runs & Nozzles:

The HP Smart Array™ is made up of high pressure nylon and/or stainless steel mist runs and nozzles. Each array is custom designed to meet specific needs, based on factors such as environmental conditions and power plant specifications. A mist run can consist of hundreds of nozzles. Depending on the size and amount of control needed, the nozzles can be connected to individual or multiple pumps through a series of manifolds. The installation process involves careful positioning and re-calibration in order to ensure maximum efficiency while using minimum resources.

What About Corrosion?

For Turbine applications, we utilize a combination of “100% evaporation”, water treatment and mineral reduction systems to eliminate concerns about corrosion or scale build up. These systems are customized as needed for each install.

Due to the nature of Cooling Towers (actual physical properties), as well as the “100% evaporation” techniques used for this type of pre-cooling, scale or corrosion is not usually a concern. Most often, the only requirement is a periodic cleaning. In the rare case where it is a concern, we design a custom solution for the specific location. MORE
