How Our Mist System Makes Your A/C System More Efficient

The mist system activates only when the AC unit comes on. Hot air from the condenser unit's fan lifts the flap on the patented Cool-n-Save® control valve, which allows water to flow to the misters surrounding the AC unit. An ultra-fine mist is released into the air and evaporates almost instantly.

This "Flash Evaporation" literally sucks heat out of the air as water absorbs the energy required for evaporation. The result is a substantial drop in ambient temperature of up to 30 degrees — without wetness.

More About How Mist Systems Work

The basics of an air conditioning unit: The typical A/C unit consists of evaporator coils, an interior fan, a compressor, compressor coils, and an outside fan. The unit cools by using a refrigerant, usually Freon, to transport heat from the inside space into the outside air. This is accomplished by the action of the fan, which pulls air over the coils so that the heat is transferred to the outside air.

The challenge: In conditions of extreme heat, many conventional AC systems fall short because they cannot effectively transfer their stored heat into the surrounding air. This forces the unit to work harder and longer trying to cool your home, which runs up high electric bills and shortens the life of the unit.

To solve this problem on large commercial AC systems, places such as office building, warehouses and factories have been installing professional misting systems around their AC condensers for years. These misting system are very similar to the misters you may have seen in use at amusement parks or outdoor dining areas of restaurants.

The Magic Solution – Mist: When an ultra-fine mist is released into the air, evaporation occurs almost instantly. As the tiny water droplets of this mist absorb the energy they need to evaporate, they literally suck heat out of the air.

The technical name is "adiabatic saturation", an establsihed scientific principal that has been used for years to reduce air temperatures outdoors.

Because this evaporation is constant and immediate, it produces a substantial drop in ambient temperature without getting anything wet. In fact, air temperatures near a misting system are automatically lowered by as much as 30 degrees.

The breakthrough: The existing industrial AC misting systems are not a feasible option for home owners. They are large, complex systems that must be professionally installed, and their operation requires electrical solenoids and switches to regulate the timing and use of the misters. Few home owners could afford such a costly commercial grade system. As well, such systems are complex to operate and difficult to maintain.

However, we have introduced a new, more affordable solution for home owners and small businesses. These residential units operate using just water hose pressure and are wired into the low voltage side of your AC unit. When the AC turns on, a small solenoid allows the water to flow though our small push connect nozzles and fittings. Our units are incredibly simple, efficient, and perfectly designed to save you money and keep your house cooler!

Finally, the same scientific principal of energy efficiency that has been helping large corporations save money for years, can now be applied to almost any home AC system.

The Payoff — You Save Money

With our systems installed on your AC unit, it creates an artificial environment that reduces the air temperature around your unit by up to 30 degrees. The result is that your AC unit can transfer heat much more efficiently, which greatly increases its Energy Efficiency Rating.

You save money in three ways:

  1. Because temperatures are lower in the AC compressor, it will run at a lower pressure, which means it can work using less energy.
  2. Since heat is being transferred much more efficiently, your AC unit will run for shorter periods. That means your AC unit will use far less electricity, and your summer cooling bills will be lower!
  3. The third benefit is that you virtually eliminate maintenance and problems, and you extend the life of the unit.
